History of the A350-900:

he Airbus A350-900 is a long-range, twin-engine widebody airliner. Originally conceived in 2004 as an A330 derivative, Airbus completely redesigned it into a carbon-fiber, clean sheet aircraft.  Following its 2013 maiden flight, the -900 entered commercial service with Qatar Airways in 2015, becoming a modern aviation workhorse.

The first A350-900 airframe was rolled out and completed its maiden flight from Toulouse, France, on June 14, 2013. Following an extensive testing and certification campaign, the aircraft received type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in September 2014, followed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification two months later.
